Originally a three-piece, London-based SixToes, who have previously collaborated with Josh T. Pearson and Soulsavers, expanded to a sextet after the release of their 2009 debut album, Trick Of The Night. Ignoring the fact they should really now be called SixtyToes, the new additions to the lineup have given the band an added layer of drama and melancholy, especially on the slowburn intensity of their new single, Low Guns, which is premiered here and is the first track to be taken from the forthcoming The Morning After album. Clearly deciding that six members is still not enough, Low Guns features a temporary additional member in the shape of Depeche Mode's Dave Gahan. "Dave would always be very positive after listening to our remixes for their Sounds Of The Universe album so we invited him to sing on Low Guns and to our delight he immediately said 'yes'," explains cellist Anne Carruthers. "In fact he went one step further and also added a harmonica part to the end of the track." And while it takes a little while to get going – there's some tuning of violins to get through in the opening thirty seconds or so – the delicate progression from softly plucked guitar, to rolling drums to properly windswept, tears-streaming-down-the-face sadness of the final third is crushingly beautiful.

Gahan, lead vocalist of 80s electronic legends Depeche Mode, said of the collaboration: "I always really liked the remixes that Six Toes did for Depeche Mode over the years, so when the band reached out to me about working with the band on 'Low Guns', I jumped on the opportunity. The band are exceptionally talented, the song connected with me, and I think the video is inspired and fantastic."
