Nuovo album di Tom Yorke prodotto da Nigel Godrich: Tomorrow's Modern Boxes.
Sarà rilasciato in via sperimentale su BitTorrent.
As an experiment we are using a new version of BitTorrent to distribute a new Thom Yorke record.
The new Torrent files have a pay gate to access a bundle of files..
The files can be anything, but in this case is an 'album'.
It’s an experiment to see if the mechanics of the system are something that the general public can get its head around ...
If it works well it could be an effective way of handing some control of internet commerce back to people who are creating the work.
Enabling those people who make either music, video or any other kind of digital content to sell it themselves.
Bypassing the self elected gate-keepers.
If it works anyone can do this exactly as we have done.
The torrent mechanism does not require any server uploading or hosting costs or ‘cloud’ malarkey.
It's a self-contained embeddable shop front...
The network not only carries the traffic, it also hosts the file. The file is in the network.
Oh yes and it's called

Io mi auguro che per il nuovo disco i Radiohead si mettano con la testa sotto a fare della grande musica come ai tempi del 2007 senza troppi orpelli promozionali intorno.
Perché ogni cosa che Yorke ha fatto da allora mi fa pensare che, dopo la trovata di In Rainbows, si sia convinto che sia più utile spendere ore per tirar fuori la trovata mediatica più efficace piuttosto che ragionare sui brani di per se.
Tomorrow's Modern Boxes è un disco piuttosto fiacco, che soffre della "sindrome da King of the Limbs" , ovvero essere troppo assorbito ad escoltare quella generazione di artisti che, precedentemente, hanno ascoltato lui
e diventa un cane che si morde la coda.
E quindi daje con le melodie in mezzo a James Blake e Burial-esque.
Ritmi e synth alla Modeselektor, Apparat.
Ma l'insieme ( interference a parte), non funziona. Rispetto alle controparti, qui spesso i beats sono deboli, i percorsi abbastanza sfruttati, buttarla in melanconia non basta più.
è un disco fondamentalmente incolore, per fans.
Con un mero confronto con The Eraser perde senza pietà, almeno lì c'era una personalità precisa, l'approccio ciclico e quasi soffocante del songwriting, questo vortice che ti avvolgeva di continuo ed era coerente per tutto il disco, i pezzi "seri" non mancavano ( una "Harrowdown Hill" ha più longevità di tutto questo elogio alla narcolessia)
Gli Atoms for peace mi avevano fatto sperare, non tanto per il disco, che soffriva sempre di difetti ( piacevole, da sottofondo, carente di melodie veramente incisive e di climax), ma dal vivo era un progetto veramente divertente. Qui siamo un passo indietro.
