ed ecco che e' arrivata la recensione di scaruffi...
beh che dire? fiero di nn essere d'accordo con lui neanche questa volta!
io fossi in voi ci ripenserei...
Robert Smith was, in many ways (lyrically, musically, morally) born old. As he got old (for real), his music became more youthful. Aptly self-titled, The Cure (Geffen, 2004) bridges the old young Smith and the young old Smith, and balances out a life's worth of contradictions. He screams "I can't find myself" in Lost, an angry and almost beastly (for his standards) rant, but perhaps he has finally just done that: found himself. Not a pop star and not an alternative rocker, Smith is, quite simply, a moody amateur philosopher obsessed with existential themes, identity crises and sex/death iconography, who happened to become a musician because his entire generation did so. Alas, he is still not a real musician, and most songs on this album stand to prove it: they just don't sound like music. On the positive side, Smith does not whine and the band does not babble. At least, the Cure get to the point, something they had not done in many years.

Sono come molti di Voi un grande estimatore di R.Smith & co. e gli ultimi anni dei Cure mi hano dato emozioni di tipo contrastante, un mix tra entusiasmo e delusione che anche un "toro" sarebbe uscito frastornato; dischi come Wild Mood Swings mi hanno "ucciso" del tutto facendomi pensare al peggio, poi Bloodflowers mi ha fatto ricredere e i piccoli videoclip che trovavo in internet con le registrazioni del nuovo album mi avevano fatto pensare ad un gran ritorno. Bene
Il disco nuovo l'ho ascoltato poco a dir la verità e credo che necessiti indubbiamente di non pochi ascolti per dare un giudizio obiettivo; è un disco ruvido, difficile e forse un pò troppo "macchinoso e scuro" per poter essere apprezzato così di botto ma a me incomincia a piacere pian piano. Ammetto che il primo ascolto dal "bottegaio" di fiducia mi aveva nuovamente frastornato, non mi piaceva e non l'avevo comprato pensando "ecco la solita delusione, il solito album che ti manda "in botta" e invece ora a distanza di circa 6/7 ascolti incomincio a ritrovarmi in mezzo a tutta questa oscurità, forse un pò troppa per i miei gusti ma sempre parte integrante di quel maledetto geniaccio di R.Smith.......
sicuramente non mi aspettavo un disco "allegro" ma un pò più di luce si, un disco così sinceramente non credo che me lo ricorderò tra un anno.......probabilmente non rientra nel genere di musica che ho ascoltato negli ultimi anni....
